Teramount is an innovative and fast-growing startup in the field of silicon photonics that solves a major obstacle for the next-generation data center co-packaged switches.
Job Description and Responsibilities
We are looking for a senior electro-optics engineer who will manage the optics team and play a pivotal role in advancing Teramount’s optical solutions. In this position, you will be responsible for the architecture of Teramount’s optical design and photonic solutions, define fabrication tolerances and oversee optical R&D activities.
Your job includes, but not is limited to, the following tasks:
- Electro-Optics design, engineering and simulation of Termount’s packaging solutions.
- Data analysis of fabricated optics. It will be your responsibility to point out fabrication challenges and verify that outputs meet the defined requirements.
- Yield prediction and defining optical and mechanical tolerances.
- Plan, supervise and extract conclusions from R&D lab experiments. It will be your responsibility to ensure that the lab measurements are properly performed, flag problems and suggest solutions.
- Interact with different R&D teams (lab, mechanics, process?) and define targets (roadmap?) of the optical R&D process.
- Interact with vendors and service providers.
- Data analysis, presentations to team members and partners.
Qualifications:
- Msc or PhD in physics: Electro-optics / Applied Physics – a must.
- 5+ years of electro-optics development experience.
- A Deep understanding of lenses and optical systems including geometric optics and physical optics – a must.
- A self- starter able to perform physical optical simulations with self-built tools and acquire new skills independently – a must.
- Scripting and simulation capabilities using tools such as Python or MATLAB – a must.
- Experience with Signal processing- a must? an advantage?
- Electro-optics hands-on lab experience.
- High analytical and troubleshooting capabilities – a must.
- Experience with optical simulations – a must.
- Experience with Zemax and/or Lumerical software- an advantage.
- High level mathematical skills – a must.
- Image processing skills- an advantage.
- Lab experience- an advantage.
- a team player who works well across disciplines- a must
- English proficiency- a must
